# Theme

Themes uploaded from the [Chrome Web Store](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/) aren't compatible with [Yandex Browser](https://browser.yandex.com/).

By default, Yandex Browser elements (tabs, [SmartBox](*smart-link), and so on) are displayed on a light background. To select a dark or color theme:

1. Click **![](../_image/settings-icon.svg)**&nbsp;→ **Settings**&nbsp;→ **Interface**.


1. Under **Color scheme**, select a theme you like.

If you selected a dark theme and want Yandex Browser to pick up only [backgrounds](https://www.yandex.kz/support/browser/en/personalization/change-background.md) that go well with it, enable the **Use only dark backgrounds when the dark theme is enabled** option.
